Wow this week was crazy for you guys and for me. Where to start......oh yeah. So Tuesday we had our district reunion and guess who showed up.....THE MISSION PRESIDENT.....AGAIN!!!! I feel weird. He´s sure sticking around Piribebuy a whole lot. But anyways. In every single district reunion we go and write down all of the investigators that are progressing and how we are helping them to be baptized. The Elders from the branch went up and started to talk about THE MAN WE CAME IN CONTACT WITH LAST WEEK....You guys aren´t even going to believe just how big of a miracle this man is. So he had told the elders that last Wednesday he had received a dream......where there were four missionaries standing and knocking on his door, two sisters and two elders. They told him that they were representatives of Jesus Christ and they were inviting him to be baptized and to repent. He told the elders that he couldn't recognize the faces of any of the missionaries but he remembered ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! He remembered that I was the one that invited him to be baptized. He also said that behind us four missionaries he saw a huge storm, that was black and scary. The missionaries explained that it probably meant the temptations that Satan would through at him after being baptized. So he had this dream last Wednesday. We contacted him in the street Thursday, where he recognized me from his dream and was in shock when I said the same words to him in real life that I had in his dream. He accepted, and you guys know this part, but what we didn't know is what he was doing this day. He was walking to go and buy drugs from a house very far away when we contacted him. He has been addicted to drugs since he was 13 years old. He had gotten to the house and nobody was there and was coming home when we contacted him. He in that same moment was praying that someone would stop him from going to buy those drugs. And he told the elders that the invitation to be baptized was exactly what did that. While we were talking to him, the man who sells the drugs drove by on motorcycle signaling him to come back to the house and he would give him what he wanted. He told the elders that instead of turning and following the motorcycle he followed us, and as of today he has yet to take drugs. He has read in two weeks to the second book of Nephi and he came to church and our baptism Guazu on Saturday. He is a huge miracle.
Well second off we had a Huge baptismal service this week. Our district baptized 11 people on Saturday. Not one were from my companion and I but the we were able to see huge miracles helping the elders in our branch baptize their family. Lets just say that the elders are very grateful to have sisters in their district. Because the two families that were baptized this last Saturday were married and then baptized. hahahah The elders couldn't plan a wedding without us. They called us up on Friday asking if we could help them. We knew they would. But the families were baptized. 11 people in total. The spirit was so strong. Seeing every single one of those people enter into the water was such an amazing feeling. They were so happy.
Something that I've learned as a missionary is that almost nobody can have a perfect answer about the gospel before being baptized. I remember reading in the Book of Mormon.....I think that it was in Mosiah....that says those that come unto the waters of baptism, without obstination are very blessed. If we waited for all to be baptized after they had their answer that this was the true church very few would be baptized and the church wouldn't grow. This is why we receive the gift of the Holy Ghost after we are baptized that will help confirm that what we did was correct. Don't worry about if the family have a perfect testimony of the gospel before being baptized, because after receiving the gift of the Holy Ghost and having the help of a loving ward, they will be able to grow in the love of the gospel. If they can understand the principles that the missionaries are going to teach them things will work out fine. Take the parents of my companion for example. They were baptized when her older sister had 2 years of age. They accepted without a problem, but they never went to church. My companion was actually baptized in the catholic church. hahaha not until later in life did they truly remember what it was that they accepted and are now active members of the church and their two children are serving or have served missions.
I also had to laugh at hearing that Trent was enjoying the rain this week. Because I was too. I didn't have a single pair of shoes that weren't wet this week. Well, we keep going. The gospel doesn't stop for anything.
And we will be seeing each other in only 20 weeks......by the way I only know that because the elders in my district remind me of it every time they see me. Its crazy to see how fast is flying the time.
love you all with all of my heart,
HErmana Ross
